Lithuanians

The relic-snowball cavalry civ — 4 relics = +4 Knight/Leitis attack and a paladin line that outscales every other civ in the game.

[ IDENTIDAD ]

Lithuanians are a cavalry civilization with an unusual economic engine: relics. They start the game with +150 food (the largest starting food bonus in the game) and free Loom, which cleans up the opening significantly — you effectively begin with a vill-and-a-half of extra food already banked. The +150 food enables a tighter Feudal click and fuels an aggressive Scout/Knight opener. Their core unique mechanic is the relic bonus: for every Relic garrisoned in a Monastery, Knights AND the Leitis unique unit gain +1 attack, up to +4 attack with four relics. This turns Lithuanian Paladins into the highest-attack Paladins in the game (~20 attack with 4 relics vs a base 14). The Leitis is a Castle Age heavy cavalry unit whose attack ignores armor — it does full damage to Paladins, Elite Teutonic Knights, and every heavily-armored target in the game. Their team bonus (Monasteries work 20% faster) smooths monk play across the team. Defensively, Spearman line has +1 pierce armor (surviving the opening archer mini-wars better than most cav civs), Towers cost -50% stone, and their unique tech Hill Forts gives every Town Center +3 range in Imperial — effective map control. Lithuanians do not reach Arbalest, do not reach Bombard Cannon, and lack Eagle Warriors (being European), but they have full Hussar, Hand Cannoneer, full siege workshop, and a full monastery tree. The civ rewards map control (to capture relics) and snowballs brutally when ahead.

⚡ Civ bonuses

Team bonus

Monasteries work 20% faster.

Unique bonus #1

Start the game with +150 food.

Largest starting resource bonus in the game. Equivalent to ~1.5 villagers of accumulated food from minute 0. Enables the 4th villager to be made from the Town Center about 3 seconds earlier, and shifts the feudal click timing forward by roughly 20-30 seconds depending on build.

Unique bonus #2

Loom is free.

Saves 50 gold and ~25 seconds of research time. Vills have +20 HP, +1 melee armor, +1 pierce armor available from minute 0."

Unique bonus #3

Knights and Leitis gain +1 attack for each Relic garrisoned in a Monastery, capped at +4.

A fully-upgraded Paladin has 14 base melee attack. With 4 relics it hits 18 attack — plus Blast Furnace (+3) = 21 attack. These are the highest-damage Paladins in the game by a wide margin. Leitis with 4 relics and full upgrades reaches ~18 attack (armor-ignoring), which one-shots villagers and two-shots most cavalry.

Unique bonus #4

Spearman line (Spearman, Pikeman, Halberdier) has +1 pierce armor.

Baseline Spearman pierce armor is 0; Lithuanian Spearmen have 1. Pikemen and Halberdiers gain proportionally. Archers deal noticeably less damage to Lithuanian spears, making the Spearman mini-mass vs feudal archer wars significantly stronger.

Unique bonus #5

Towers cost -50% stone.

Watch Tower costs 62 stone (vs 125). Guard Tower effectively half-stone upgrade. Keep upgrade available to Imperial.

⚠️ Key tech the civ DOES NOT have
  • · ArbalestArcher line stops at Crossbowman — no Arbalest. Archers are a supplement, never a primary unit.
  • · Heavy Cavalry ArcherCav Archer stops at base Cavalry Archer — no Heavy. CA is not a viable line for this civ.
  • · Bombard CannonNo BBC — Imperial push against walls/castles relies on Siege Ram + Trebuchet. A notable late-game hole vs pure defensive civs.
  • · Siege OnagerStops at Onager — siege clear is mid-tier. Compensates with Siege Ram + Leitis + Paladin instead.
  • · Heavy ScorpionStops at Scorpion — scorpion is a minor tool only.
  • · Eagle WarriorEuropean civ — no eagle line. Not relevant as a gap, noted for completeness.
  • · Battle Elephant lineNo Battle Elephant. Not relevant for this archetype.
  • · Camel lineNo Camel Rider. Must answer opposing cavalry mirrors with Halberdier + monks + Leitis (whose armor-ignore means it trades reasonably vs camel-civ cavalry).
  • · Plate Barding Armor[VERIFY — believe Lithuanians HAVE Plate Barding Armor; confirm current patch.]
  • · Blast Furnace[VERIFY — believe Lithuanians HAVE Blast Furnace; confirm.]
  • · Bracer[VERIFY — believe Lithuanians have Bracer; confirm. Matters for Skirmisher Imperial trash.]
🛡️ Unique unit · Castle Age

Leitis

heavy cavalry whose attack IGNORES armor — unique in the game

  • · Anti-Paladin / anti-armored-cav specialist — does full damage vs Franks Paladins, Teutonic Knights, Cataphracts, Boyars
  • · Raiding villagers (ignores armor doesn't matter vs vills, but speed + HP does)
  • · Castle drop supplement — 2-3 Leitis + Knights from a forward castle apply relentless pressure
⚗️ Unique tech · Castle Age

Escudos de Torre

Spearman line and Skirmishers gain +2 pierce armor.

When: Castle Age if opponent scouted as archer civ. Mid-Castle if Imperial is expected to be a trash war. Skip entirely in pure cav vs cav matchups.

⚗️ Unique tech · Imperial Age

Fuertes en Colina

Town Centers gain +3 range (from 7 to 10).

When: Imperial Age, ideally one of the first clicks. On Arena, Hill Forts + castle + relics + Paladins produce a fortress that opponent cannot breach without Siege Onager or Bombard Cannon mass.

🎯 Recommended build order

Scout→Knight + Relic + Forward Castle Option

Bracket 1300-1600

Decide at 14-15min between defensive second-TC boom or forward castle drop. Based on scouting + map.

Alternativa

Scouts Into Archers FlexOpponent scouted as cav civ (Huns, Franks, Magyars)

❌ Common mistakes playing Lithuanians

  • Never producing a monk or collecting any relics

You are playing Franks-minus without the relic bonus. The civ's identity is the relic bonus; skipping it wastes the civ pick.

fix:Monastery at 17-18min. 1 monk from monastery. Send monk with 1 knight escort to closest relic. Don't need all 5 — 2 is plenty at low ELO.

Forgetting Bloodlines after clicking Castle Age

Bloodlines adds 20 HP to every cavalry unit including Leitis. Without it, Knights die faster.

fix:First click after Castle Age: Bloodlines. Always.

Spending the +150 food start on something useless

The +150 food bonus compounds only if you convert it to villagers/tech/Feudal click timing. Idle food on TC is wasted.

fix:Treat your starting villagers as if you already have 1.5 extra — queue feudal click 30s earlier.

🛡️ Cuidado con estas unidades

Halberdier (any civ) HIGH

Anti-cav specialist destroys Paladin + Leitis; Leitis armor-ignore doesn't bypass Halb anti-cav bonus damage.

Kamayuk (Incas) HIGH

4-range anti-cav bonus damage; armor-ignore of Leitis doesn't help vs this.

Heavy Camel / Imperial Camel HIGH

Anti-cav bonus damage + high HP trades up vs cavalry.

Monks (any civ) MEDIUM-HIGH

Conversion removes expensive Paladin + Leitis; Lith monk tree helps but doesn't eliminate threat.

Mangonel / Onager MEDIUM

AoE damage kills knight clumps; siege civs exploit static Lith armies.

Massed Arbalest + Skirmisher MEDIUM

Briton/Mayan/Ethiopian Arbalest mass kites knights; Skirmisher screen denies cavalry closing.
