Gunpowder units fire 18% faster (Hand Cannoneer and Bombard Cannon both benefit), and the Cannon Galleon fires projectiles that do not miss buildings — a critical naval bonus. Their team bonus is that trade carts/cogs generate +33% more gold, making Spanish allies on trade-heavy team games valuable.
